Una vez más y vistiendo el pasamontañas como símbolo e iconode
resistencia y también para mostrar que tod@s somos uno e iguales ,
estos maestrosy maestras zapatistas nos mostraron su vasto
conocimiento en el engranaje malsanoque el gobierno hace para
desinformar y tenernos dominados , y dormidos usandocomo cloroformo la
televisión ; comedias y deporte . Aquí se entendía también la frase
que una de las mujeresmaestras zapatistas dijo en la clase pasada ,
pero que se aplica a todos en generalhombres y mujeres N0 ZAPATISTAS
"Nos da tristeza el ver como la mujer con títulouniversitario ,
piensa que es libre pero no lo es"
En una breve narración de historia de luchas de nuestros
antepasados, abuelos y padres, los maestros y maestras zapatistas
nos introdujeronal tema que era gobierno en resistencia ,tema de esa
noche .Y mencionando los más de520 veinte años de esclavos , no
democracia y no libertad mencionaron laconquista , 1810 independencia
, y la revolución de 1910 . En donde nuestrosantepasados lucharon a
muerte para hacer una política con justicia y dignidad.
Nosotros como pueblo y heredándolos ideales de nuestros antepasados,
hicimos nuestra la lucha en el 94 y estamosconstruyendo hemos
alcanzado hacer un gobierno autónomo con los tres nivele enel EZLN
,Gobierno local , Municipal y juntas de buen gobierno, esto a pesar
deque el mal gobierno nos quiere destruir, engañar , nos quiere hacer
creer que los presidentes y senadores en verdad trabajanpara las
mejoras de vida y con campañas falsas pretendiendo figurar como
protectoresdel pueblo y en aras de una vida dignasalen en fotos donde
abrazados con los indígenas, pretendiendo decir que los quieren pero
la verdad que ellos no tienensentimientos y nada en la cabeza , solo
piensan en dinero y poder . También reparten2 láminas y un bulto de
cemento para construir una vivienda digna según ellos. nosotr@s ya no
les creemosy el resultado es la intimidación el ataque asesinato como
ocurrió en Acteal endonde los paramilitares hermanos que fueron usados
para ese crimen, mataron amuchos y muchas compañeras niño@s , mujeres
y ancianos. Esto de usar a nuestroshermanos para confrontarnos es
común, y a veces cuando algunos hermanos van conellos a pedirles
títulos de tierras, estos el mal gobierno los mandaintencionalmente a
ocupar nuestras tierras recuperadas para hacer el choque,pero nosotros
y en nuestra lucha pacífica entendemos que estos hermanos sonusados y
a veces para no confrontar los dejamos allí y removemos a los demás
compañerosbuscándoles otro lugar . En 1998 quemaron nuestras oficinas
de los municipios autónomospensando que quemando eso allí acaba la
lucha , pero lo que no sabe el malgobierno es que no luchamos dentro
de las oficinas luchamos con el alma el corazón, con que acaben la
oficina allí no acaba la lucha esa es la idea del mal gobierno. 1997
allí sihubo trizteza . paramilitares mataron a nuestros compañeros
hubo heridos . Asíresistimos hombre y mujeres zapatistas,contra las
campañas de programas quehace el gobierno y haciéndonos creer que son
para el progreso, pero nosotros yasabemos que esos programas son de
muerte. Para los zapatistas ya no existe el gobierno,los zapatistas ya
no creen en el gobierno para ellos el gobierno ya no existe,lo que
existe para nosotros es nuestros tres tipos de gobierno "ansina
vamoscaminando" construyendo y resistiendo.
El gobierno gobiernofederal, legislativo, ejecutivo y judicialse une
para la campaña de represión en contra de los zapatistas y
losadherentes y para debilitar la lucha, pero el gobierno no sabe que
en cada acciónde represión y de asesinato notros los zapatistas nos
fortalecemos aún más y lohemos demostrado cuando en sus campanas de
desinformación y diciendo en televisiónque el EZLN ya no existía ,
nosotroshicimos presencia desmintiendo al mal gobierno en nuestra
marcha silenciosa . Suscampañas mediáticas de desinformación y
mentiras, tratan de confundir a la población,por ahí decían que el
subcomandante Marcos andaba paseándose en Europa , o queel comandante
tacho estaba peleado con los demás .En sus infames mentiras dicenque
no existe pobreza pero la realidad es otra . Nos dan deportes y
novelas queno ayudan nada a nuestros problemas. Nosotroscombatimos
estas mentiras organizándonos y usando nuestras radios
comunitarias,además de visitar a los compas en sus diferentes lugares
de vivienda, damosclases políticas a los jóvenes y niños porque
sabemos que no es como elgobierno hace creer a la gente que el
conocimientoesta en aulas lujosas el conocimiento está aquí en la
mente y corazón .Lo que busca el mal gobierno es que nosmatemos entre
hermanos, dicen .
Otra resistencia es la lucha contra Monsanto y la globalizaciónque
están envenenando y destruyendo la semillacriolla, pero ellos aun
resisten no les compran y conservan y preservan el maízoriginal. Ellos
los zapatistas, respetan a la madre tierra la aman porque ellasles da
de comer y vivienda . Otra lucha es la de conservar la cultura
indígenaya que según los capitalistas para mejores oportunidades y
progreso hay que hablarotro idioma . EL gobierno dice que nosotros
somos violentos , pero la violenciaviene de parte de ellos y esa es
otra lucha que tenemos que hacer , ya que la gentese cree de todas las
mentiras del mal gobierno.
En lo personal me sorprende y motiva mucho si visión, inteligencia
capacidad analíticay humildad. Así como ellos entiendo perfectamente
que no se necesita leer a Chomskypara darse cuenta de la realidad y
del sistema de gobierno en México. Ellos loszapatistas (y a
comparación de la población en las grandes y modernas ciudades )saben
súper bien todas las estrategias sicológicas y mediáticas que el
malgobierno usa para engañar al pueblo ,tieneperfectamente entendido
que los partidos políticos y políticos no ayudan y sonel problema y
además más si controlan y hacen creer a la gente que hay justicia,
democracia y libertad . Poniendo estas dos actitudes de dos tipos
degovernantes como ejemplo nos ilustraron de la diferencia a años luz
que existeentre ambas " Mientras los gobernantes de México utilizan a
otros para laslabores de su oficina , los gobernantes zapatistas lo
mismo barren que limpiany hacen todas las actividades de un ciudadano
común.
Uno de los 6 maestr@S zapatistas afirmó contundentemente
,diciendo:"Nos preguntaran que si estamos armados y nosotros
contestamos, si estamos armados! Nuestra arma es la palabra"

su humilde servicio , labor y dándole vida a la filosofía Zapatista.

"We are theGuardians of our Mother Land – it is not a commodity, it's
our mother."

On theirthird day of classes in the Freedom School, Zapatistas
"confessed" that theyare armed – their weapons are their words, their
thoughts and their hearts.

The topicof this session was resistance – how their autonomous
communities resist threedifferent, simultaneous and constant kinds of
attacks: (1) ideological, (2)economical, and (3) military.

One of themost powerful ideological attacks comes from the government
media and corporatemedia. "They say there is no poverty, which we all
know is not true, becausethere are children and families living in
dumps. They broadcast TV shows thathave nothing to do with us, useless
TV shows, like TV Novellas and sportsshows," the Zapatista teachers
said. They counter these attacks with talks,popular assemblies, and
through their community radio.

The otherpowerful ideological attack from the Mexican Government comes
from buildingnice public schools where students "don't get education,
because you don't geteducation by just building a nice school room,
the education is in our mindsand hearts". These buildings are an
attack against the Zapatista schools. "Thegovernment builds nice
buildings so that people make fun of our humble schoolsand our
education promoters, so that people start distrusting our
autonomousschools. Unlike the Government, we don't handle certificates
and graduationdiplomas, but we teach. Besides, those certificates that
the Government schoolissues to young people are to no avail because
there are no jobs anyway, so thestudents get education just to end up
working as restaurant waiters and cooks."

Zapatistachildren get prepared so that when they grow up they serve
their community, notan employer.

TheZapatista teachers pointed out that the quality of education, just
as thequality of a government, does not lie on the nice appearance of
a building.

"We startedour government in humble offices, in the beginning just in
a humble house ofsomebody, but the government is in your heart and
your mind. When have you seena bad government officer cleaning his
office, cooking his food, washing hislaundry? Our government officers
do all that, aside from their government job."

The otherway of resistance against the ideological attacks on TV is by
practicing theopposite – instead of having their kids watching TV
sports and TV shows, theyencourage them to get involved in sports and
cultural activities.

At last butnot the less aggressive attack against their autonomy are
all the Governmentcommunity programs specially developed "to make
people believe that ourautonomy is useless". These programs have been
implemented especially inChiapas after the Zapatista uprising in 1994.

All these programs "have nice names," theysaid, "like 'Opportunities
which provides school grants so that you study onlyto find out that
there are no jobs, or the 'Procampo Program' which is supposed to help
the peasants, but itdoes not have a plan and a market forpeasants to
sell their products. Actually, these peasants' programs are
makingpeasants sell their lands without even realizing it".

Also, thegovernment program for the elderly, named "70 and More"
represents anotherattack against autonomy, by handing just a little
money to elderly people andmanipulating them. It is just a way to
control their minds.

Theymentioned as well the government school breakfast system, also
developed tocontrol kids and families.

Finally,the bank credits for peasants are given on the condition of
handing theirproperty titles.

As for themost promoted program of Mexican President Peña Nieto, named
the "NationalCrusade on Starvation," the Zapatista Indians call it the
"National Crusade ofDeath". People get loans for 3 years,but what are
they going to eat after these three years are over?, they wonder."Who
is going to feed them? Who is going to give them a job? What job?" On
topof all, these programs are of transgenic food "because they want to
controlwhat we eat".

Also, theGovernment is subsidizing houses in suburbs around the cities
with cheapmaterials so that people abandon their communities, migrate
to the big cities,and then the Government takes their coop-lands
(ejidos). That's how theydestroy communities as well.

"We do notuse the land as a commodity. The land is our mother. We
plant on it, we work onit, we live from it. We are not going to sell.
It is our mother. That's why wesay we are the guardians of our mother
land."

THEAUTONOMOUS BANKS

Theautonomous Zapatista banks were created mostly to counter the
expensive healthsystem. These banks provide credits at the lowest
minimum interest to thepeople in need of expensive healthcare. There
is also a new bank created by women, the BANAMAZ .



Finally,they talked about the constant military and paramilitary
attacks that they havebeen facing for 19 years.

In February1995 President Zedillo sent 60 000 soldiers to the
autonomous communities tocapture the Zapatista Army leaders.

In 1997 the Government trained paramilitaryIndian squads, and there
was the Acteal massacre.

In 1998 theZapatista Government offices were attacked and set on fire.
"What they don'trealize is that the Government is not in an office,
but in our heart."

For allthese years there are constant paramilitary and military
attacks on theirschools, offices, communities and people's houses.
Their leaders get shot orarrested under prefabricated charges. "We
took the decision not to attackbecause it is a government strategy to
have Indians killing each other," theyexplained.

"The bad governmentis trying to divide us. It creates political
parties' supporters and communityprograms, starting with the lands
where the Zapatista peasants are minority andthe majority is made by
political parties' supporters.

"Politicalparties' supporters allege that they want to 'organize' our
land, but what theyreally want is to take our land. They never want to
'organize' the big farmers'lands."

The waythey resist is by not responding to their provocations, even
though they havemany comrades in jail. They sometimes need to relocate
families andcommunities, just so that they don't respond to the
provocations.

They alsotalked about the psychological effects of the attacks with
money bribes andslanders. There are families getting bribed so that
they destroy theirautonomy. And the media is always inventing
slanders, about subcomandante Marcos (saying that he isvacationing in
Europe or he works for the government) or about conflictsbetween
Zapatista commanders.

"The way weresist every new lie is by focusing on our work, because
that's how we show thepeople it's a lie. Our resistance is the most
powerful weapon we have. The badgovernment cannot break it in, and
there is no space for it in our community.We do not beg and do not
accept crumbs. We have made very clear what ourdemands are. We are
armed – our weapon being our words, our thinking and ourhearts."
